The Sandmen

The Danish band were founded in Copenhagen in 1985 by Ole Wennike, Stefan Jensen (left 1992), Michael Illo Rasmussen and Allan Vegenfeldt. Sam Mitchell joined in 1988. They debuted with a mini-LP in 1987 followed by the studio albums "Western Blood" (1988), "Western Blood" (1989 - international version) , "Gimme, Gimme" (1991), "Sleepyhead" (1992) and "In The House Of Secrets" (1994), before splitting up in 1995.

Ole Wennike, Allan Vegenfeldt formed the band Nerve together with The Law guitarist Stefan Moulvad and Morten Hansen and Alex Puddu (from Puddu Varano), the band split up after an EP and an album.
In 2003 The Sandmen reunited and released the compilation "Beauties and Beasts", but without guitar player Sam Mitchell who had been struck by illness. The band now consisted of : Allan Vegenfeldt, Ole Wennike, Michael Rasmussen and Stefan Moulvad.
15 June 2006 Sam Mitchell died 56 years old.
