Formed in early 1985 and hailing from Leeds, The Rose Of Avalanche were labelled with the Goth Rock tag from an early stage, however unlike their contemporaries their influences - particularly on the début First Avalanche - lay with American Psychedelic Rock such as The Doors.
Although they enjoyed positive attention from music press and premier tours with other well-known acts, the band suffered from poor label management and contractual obligations which ultimately led to court appearances. The band split up in 1992 following the release of their final album I.C.E..
