After London-based German punk vocalist Stef Petticoat's first band Necessary Evil split up, she created The Petticoats, in which she sang and played all of the instruments. In 1980 The Petticoats recorded an EP (self-released on Bla-Bla-Bla Records), three songs with Robert Crash (released 1981 on Scaling Triangles) and a Peel Session.
Soon after, Stef formed Amy And The Angels.
