Japanese punk ~ alternative rock band formed in Osaka in 1985, active until 1993. Formed by 3 former members of Lemon Squeezer. The Newest Model initially played straightforward punk rock in their early days, then they incorporated some mod and beat elements to their sound around 1988. The band later began to add a variety of elements to their music; such as psychedelic rock, soul, funk, celtic, world music etc during the early '90s and some of its members went on to form Soul Flower Union and explored that sound further.
