The Messthetics are an instrumental trio based in Washington D.C. USA — featuring Brendan Canty (drums), Joe Lally (bass), and Anthony Pirog (guitar). In 2024 The Messthetics collaborated with saxophonist James Brandon Lewis with whom they released a self-titled album on Impulse!
Prior to The Messthetics, drummer Brendan Canty and bassist Joe Lally were the rhythm section of Fugazi. In 2016, the two joined with guitarist Anthony Pirog to re-imagine the power trio, bringing into the 21st Century a form that may have reached near perfection with [m75366] on the very first day of the 1970s.
