The Messthetics
The Messthetics are an instrumental trio based in Washington D.C. USA — featuring Brendan Canty (drums), Joe Lally (bass), and Anthony Pirog (guitar). In 2024 The Messthetics collaborated with saxophonist James Brandon Lewis with whom they released a self-titled album on [l=Impulse!]
Prior to The Messthetics, drummer Brendan Canty and bassist Joe Lally were the rhythm section of Fugazi. In 2016, the two joined with guitarist Anthony Pirog to re-imagine the power trio, bringing into the 21st Century a form that may have reached near perfection with [m75366] on the very first day of the 1970s.
