The Margarets

Pop band from Sunnmøre (northwestern of Norway), formed in summer 1991 on the island Giske outside Ålesund by guitarist and songwriter Rune Berg and vocalist and drummer Alex Rinde. They played together for about four years until schooling and other factors scattered the band of winds, Alex Rinde was also seriously ill for a long time. In 1999, most of the band members were gathered in Oslo, with the exception of the bassist Valderhaug, and they decided to form a band again. Rune Berg, who by the way was well underway with Number Seven Deli at this time, were joined by brother Lars Berg Giskeødegård on bass, and they started up again under the name Jupiter Starfish. After a few months they went back to the former name The Margarets. They disbanded in 2011, and three of the former members started up a new band under the name Giske.
