The League Of Crafty Guitarists

The League of Crafty Guitarists — founded in 1986 by [a=Robert Fripp] — is a small, mobile and independent performance ensemble representing the acoustic guitar work of Guitar Craft and The Guitar Circle. The personnel changes in response to the needs of each project: time, place and circumstance — usually featuring 7 to 15 guitarists from around the world. The performance group formed in 1986 and toured worldwide until 1991. During this first period of activity several albums were released: 'Live!', 'Get Crafty I', 'Live II – Live at the Victoriaville Festival', 'Show of Hands', and 'Live III – Intergalactic Boogie Express'. The LCG returned to live performance in January 2002 under the direction of [a1797943], and has toured Europe, the U.S. and Latin America since then. The album 'The Official Bootleg', featuring highlights of these tours, was released as a limited edition in 2009. Robert Fripp Soundscapes & The LCG toured Italy, Spain, Portugal, Argentina and the U.S. between June 2006 and August 2009. The RF & The LCG albums 'Live at The Bottom Line, NYC, 1990' and 'Live in Argentina 2007' were released by [l=Discipline Global Mobile] in 2010 and 2012. The group performed in April 2015 with the 'Compañia De Danza Lucia and Valentina Fusari' in Mendoza (Argentina), in Santiago and Viña Del Mar (Chile) in November 2015, in Mendoza and Córdoba (Argentina) in March and April 2016, and completed its touring with highly acclaimed performances in Villa Maria, Rio Cuarto and Córdoba in October 2016. This period of touring is documented in the album ‘The LCG V – Live in South America’, which was made available on Bandcamp on July 27th 2020. The name of the group was recalibrated to 'The League of Guitarists' in March 2017 and the focus since then has been mainly centred on developing the new repertoire in Europe and South America, performing in Mendoza, Viña Del Mar and Santiago De Chile until November 2019. During 2020, 2021, and partially 2022 ('lockdown years') the group performed as possible in fractal configurations in Germany and Argentina (Guitar Orchestra of Latin America, [a3961974], Guitar Ensemble of Argentina, Guitar Ensemble of Chile and Brasil). The League Of Crafty Guitarists returned in December 2024 for the world premiere of '[m=457248]' alongside the Mendoza Philharmonic Orchestra and the Neuquén Symphony Orchestra.
