The Fakes were a post punk/new wave from Stirling, Scotland, which comprised of Johnny McGuire (Vocals), Jamesy MacDonald (Bass), Brian Kemp (Drums), and Mairi Ross (Guitar). They released the single, "Production" in 1979, on the Deep Cuts Record Label. The band disbanded in November 1979 after Brian Kemp was killed in a motorcycle accident. In 2018 The Fakes re-formed with two of the original members, Johnny McGuire and Jimmy McEgg and joined by Lee McPhail on drums and William Baird on guitar. More new releases are planned.
