The Faction is an American hardcore punk band formed in 1982 in San Jose, California. Pioneers of the skate punk era during the early 1980s, the Faction were one of the first bands whose music and lifestyle tastes centered on punk rock and skateboarding. Their first show was opening for Social Distortion at San Jose City College on December 3rd, 1982, and their last one took place on February 22nd, 2020, still in San Jose. However, despite ending live shows, the band did not officially break up.
