Drummer Singer Carleton A. Coon and pianist / singer Joe Sanders teamed in the '20s to lead one of best white jazz bands ever to originate in Missouri. Sanders was a one-time semipro baseball player, and Coon, who like Benny Moten, died in surgery at only 38 in 1932.
