    Tacye

Tacye Giselle Lynette first made inroads into a recording career in the late 1980s, performing on the live circuit as part of various bands. She supported Bomb The Bass and Hazell Dean, even appearing on MTV Europe with Tom Tom Club, before issuing her first single under the name Tacye. That single was 'Out Of The Blue', written by Mike Bennett and released on Fly Records in 1990. Toyah recorded a cover, releasing it as a single from her 'Dreamchild' album in 1993. Toyah's version was produced by Tacye, Bennett and Paul Moran, with Tacye providing backing vocals on it, plus on a few other Toyah recordings. Tacye's follow-up single, 'Love Is Like Oxygen" arrived in 1991 and ventured further still into electronic dance styles. For the next five years or so, Tacye performed alongside songwriter/producer Mike Bennett as part of the Hiding In The Tall Grass band and it wasn't until 1997 that she returned with another solo release. 'In my Dreams' was released in the USA by New Jersey dance label, Radikal Records. It was the lead track from her debut solo album, 'I Don't Need A Gun', which followed in 1998 on Canadian label Popular Records. 'I Don't Need A Gun' received a release in the USA in 1999, repackaged as a 2CD set on Radikal Records, featuring the entire album in an acoustic style on CD2. This release was promoted with the re-released single 'In My Dreams', whilst the Metropolitan label in Germany opted to release 'Souvenir', but not the album. None of Tacye's releases beyond 1991 were distributed in the UK. For a few years, various other one-off Tacye tracks appeared on everything from speed garage, drum & bass and trance compilations to David Bowie tribute albums. These days she works as an Audio Describer at Sky Television and teaches at The Centre For Spatial Medicine.
