Suzette Charles

Suzette represented New Jersey in the 1984 Miss America Pageant, but was first-runner up to Vanessa Williams. When Williams resigned near the end of her reign due to scandalous photos, Suzette became Miss America for the remainder of the year, and also became the second African-American Miss America after Williams.
