    American pop and country singer.

    Born July 19, 1925 in Nevada, Missouri, USA.
    Died September 23, 2021, in Pahrump, Nevada, USA.
    Ex-wife of Dude Martin (1952-3) and Hank Penny (1953-1963). Mother of producer Greg Penny.
    Sue charted 15 times as a solo artist in the U.S. from 1961-1975. Her first charted song was also her highest: "Sad Movies (Make Me Cry)", which earned #1 adult contemporary and #5 overall in 1961.
    Best known for her breathy, little-girl singing voice, Thompson had several novelty pop hits in the early '60s before reinventing herself as a more mature country singer in the mid-'70s.
    She also charted 9 times with Don Gibson between 1971-1979, the top being "Good Old Fashioned Country Love" which rose to #31 country in 1974.
