Austrian band previously known as Muddy Crutch, then Big Heat and Stigmata, the band added the appendage "IV" after the release of their first album, due to existing rights on the name by another band. Finally, in 1999, the band was forced by the courts to change their name one last time, and so they became Stygma IV. The band broke up in November 2005 because the drummer could no longer play due to a bad back. The band decided they would not continue with another drummer.
