Streicher

Power electronics and industrial noise project of Ülex Xane. Streicher was the first power electronics project to exist in the Southern Hemisphere (formed in 1984). Its initial impetus was inspired by Xane's discovery of seminal industrial culture in the form of Throbbing Gristle in the late 70s and subsequently Psychic TV and as a member of TOPY. Streicher coined the phrase 'Tactical Electronics', the intent being the exploration of 'decontrol' in dealing with subjects of mass manipulation, psychological / physical terror, military history / propaganda, skinhead culture etc. Xane's mail contact with TOPY and TOPY in the early 80s was also important in framing the Streicher aesthetic, which led in turn to his friendship and collaboration with artists such as [a=The Grey Wolves] and [a=Con-Dom] in the early 90s. Since the release of the Streicher "War Without End" CD on TOPY in 2002 the project has been largely dormant, aside from occasional compilation appearances.
