Stained Red

Swedish Nu-Metal bands from Uppsala As many other bands, Stained Red was spawned out of everyday boredom. It all began 1998 in Uppsala, Sweden. Back then as a four-piece, Johan (bass), Calle (drums), Nisse(vocals) and Tobbe (guitar). Having only one guitar, there wasn't much to do but play pure metal without any fuss. Later on in 1999 the band met up with their second guitarist, Martin, a classmate of bassplayer Johan. This was the turning-point, musicwise. The sound became more dynamic and different. Other musical influences was also brought in such as hip-hop and pop. This turned the style slowly into modern metal, or as some refer it to, nu-metal. After a while as a five-piece the band spiced things up a bit by having Martin trying on some of the vocals, something that turned out great. The sound was now a blend of hardrock, mellow, hip hop, melodic and metal. A few months before the recording of "Mean Folks" in 2000, the band felt that the guitarist Tobbe lacked interest and they parted ways. Desperate for a replacement the band started the search for a new guitar player. The search was intense but short. They met up with Petro, the bassplayer of Uppsala old-school hardcoreband The 21st impact. This is the Stained Red line up today.
