South Penguin was formed in July 2014. On July 20, 2016, they debuted with and EP “Alaska.” In the same year, South Penquin was invited to the FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL making their debut performance on the “ROOKIE A ​​GO-GO” stage for new artists. On June 17, 2017, South Penquin took their maiden voyage overseas for a debut performance in Taiwan. Thereafter, South Penquin went through line-up changes, all members making their exit, with the vocalist Akatsuka to continue, more or less, on this own, with the help of live support musicians for shows. On July 5, 2017, South Penguin released their 2nd EP called “house.” In May of the following year they journed to China for their debut tour on the Chinese mainland covering four cities, including the “Taihe Midi Festival,” one of the largest music festivals of its kind in China. On January 30, 2019, South Penguin released their first single “idol,” and on February 27, followed up this release with a second release single called “alpaca” via digital media streaming. In July 2019, they toured in Taiwan and was invited to perform at the WAKE UP FESTIVAL the largest music festival in Taiwan. On August 2, 2019, South Penguin released their first album “Y.”
