Born in Rome, based in Paris but itinerant for 25 years, Simone Prattico could not better embodies the sensitivity of an "oriundo", an Italian term which means "originating (from)" and refers to the descendants of immigrants, more often from the south of Italy, generally becoming foreigners to their country of origin. As a child in Rome, Max Roach, Art Blakey and Motown were his bottles, quickly preparing him for all-terrain know-how and a life as a professional musician from the age of 16. A highly sought-after drummer, session musician, virtuoso of Brazilian jazz or mixed groove, he is not yet 20 years old and has already toured and recorded with several Italian pop stars, as well as with the big names in jazz from the era. Then chance encounters led him to work in Paris in the '90s, from where he would later move to New York. Since 2005, he has played regularly in the United States, participating in numerous tours, performing in major clubs and theaters (Lincoln Center, Webster hall, Joe's Pub, Bitter End (NYC); Troubadour (LA); The Fillmore ( San Francisco), etc.), and several live broadcasts (Spinning on air on WNYC, Paiste Magazine, NYC; Music City Roots, Nashville; eTown, Boulder; Quick Hits, San Francisco). Beautiful and solid collaborations with musicians from the local scene have characterized the last 15 years. New York thus became, along with Rome and Paris, another home for Simone.
