Silla & Rise is the trio from Nunavut (Canada) made up of Inuit throat-singers Cynthia Pitsiulak and Charlotte Qamaniq (Silla) and musician/producer Rise Ashen. The band is a rendition of a traditional Inuit throat music called Kitturiaq, which means Mosquito in Inuktitut. Silla & Rise blend Inuit throat-singing and futuristic dance floor beats. Their name comes from the Inuktitut word "Sila" meaning weather. Silla & Rise is the beautiful sounds of Inuit Culture meeting the futuristic rhythms of the global dance floor, and where all are welcome to journey into the depths of these timeless sounds, as their vibrations echo across the galaxy.
