Biography: New York hardcore took a positive turn in December, 1994, when Shutdown emerged on the scene as one of few bands ready to take their music and message to the next level. With an emphasis on old-school values and new school musical sensibility, Shutdown were poised to take over where bands like Warzone, Cro-Mags and Gorilla Biscuits left off.

With older members of the NYHC crowd supporting these "kids", success has been a natural transition. They have played some of the biggest shows in past hardcore history, including one of the two tributes to Raybeez (Warzone) at CBGB's in the fall of 1997. Raybeez himself actually went as far as to state that Shutdown is "the future of hardcore". And with a legend like Jimmy G (Murphy's Law) manning the production duties on "Against All Odds", and the full support of their home town, Shutdown are ready to be recognized worldwide as the leaders of hardcore's new breed.

Shutdown's sound is a combination of styles, but their goal is to "...combine traditional old school with our own new buzz to it... We combine old and new to make our own style of hardcore". They've even written one song for "Against All Odds" with Todd, Vinnie and Jay from Warzone, aptly titled "We Won't Forget", and formally dedicated to Raybeez. This record also contains three tracks from their older releases, alongside eleven new ones, detailing the evolution of Shutdown, and of hardcore as a whole.

Shutdown followed up their debut full length shortly after with a 3 song Ep titled "Something To Prove" recorded in Chicago and was released in February 2000.

In fall 2000, Shutdown released their 2nd full length "Few And Far Between", produced by Roger Miret. The band then toured heavily to promote the record hitting the road both Europe and USA with friends and mentors Agnostic Front. Shortly after, they then had the privelege of touring Japan, Australia, New Zealand as well as Canada spreading their music and message while sharing the stage over the years with bands such as Madball, Sick Of It All, Cro-Mags, Murphy's Law, Hatebreed, All Out War, Warzone, CIV, Shelter, Vision, Underdog and many more.

Shutdown stopped playing full-time shortly after finishing a quick stint on Warped Tour in 2001. In 2006, Black & Blue invited Shutdown to play the NYC Superbowl of Hardcore which stands as the biggest hardcore show in NYC every year.

In 2010, Shutdown announced its rebirth back to playing and doing random shows a few times per year. Some of the members (Steve, Dion, and Jimmy) have also started a new band with Mark's brother Mike aptly titled The Last Stand.
