Swedish guitarist, born and raised in Gustafs, Dalarna and since 2008 living in Copenhagen. He has studied music at high school, at Skurup's Folk High School and attended music training at the Academy of Music in Malmö. He is very committed to composition, rhythm and soundscapes but uninterested in preconceived notions and genre limitations. Samuel Hällkvist has been employed at the Academy of Music since 2010 and teaches practical improvisation theory, guitar and music theory. As a musician, Samuel has received the Jazz in Sweden artist award in 2010 and has toured in North America, the Czech Republic, Greece, Great Britain, Scandinavia and Greenland, among others. He has worked with musicians such as Pat Mastelotto, Tony Levin, Trey Gunn (King Crimson), Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music), Guy Pratt (Madonna, Michael Jackson, Pink Floyd), Jakko Jakszyk (Level 42), Isildurs Bane and many Scandinavian jazz musicians.
