American country music songwriter. Born December 14, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. Died in 1981, aged 56. Botkin charted as a songwriter nine times on the U.S. country charts between 1950-1968. Songs included "The Lovebug Itch" by Eddy Arnold (#2, 1950, co-written by Jenny Lou Carson), "The Lonely Side of Town" by Kitty Wells (#7, 1956) and "Amigo's Guitar" by Kitty Wells (#6, 1959, co-written by John D. Loudermilk and Kitty Wells).
