Rosa Balistreri

Italian singer and storyteller (Licata, March 21, 1927 - † Palermo, Sept. 20, 1990), great interpreter of Italian folk song, in particular Sicilian. She has had an hard life, began singing and playing in street parties and reciting at [i]Teatro Stabile[/i], Catania. In 1974 she took part to [i]Canzonissima[/i], her first TV music show. Since 1976 was accompanied by the musician and composer [a=Mario Modestini] who wrote for her voice [i]La Ballata del Sale (The Ballad of the Salt)[/i] (1979), [i]Buela[/i] (1982), [i]Ohi Bambule[/i] (1987).
