Roland Kayn

About

Born: 3 September 1933 in Reutlingen, Germany Died: 5 January 2011 Modern composer of electronic music. He was a student of Boris Blacher in Berlin, Josef Rufer, Fritz Winckel und Oskar Sala. Besides composing for instruments (mainly the organ and the piano), he worked mostly on what he called "cybernetic music", based on programming long format compositions on early computer systems. He must be seen as a pioneer of this genre of modern music, but remained largely unknown.
