Before that, he was the Amercan sales representativ for the Russian theremin. He was the founder of the R. A. Moog Company, Inc. in 1953. The company would change name in 1972, and it became Moog Music Inc.. In 2001, Robert Moog was awarded the Swedish Polar Music Prize for his design of the MiniMoog, the first compact, easy-to-use synthesizer, which paved the way to the realm of electronic sounds that has revolutionised all genres of music during the past half-century. He died August 21, 2005 in Ashevile, North Carolina,USA. *) Re the pronunciation: Bob's family name is pronounced to sound like mogue.
