Escaped from Midlands suburbia when picked up by Laurel Aitken and His Unitone (1980 - 82). Migrated down to London 1983 and introduced to Marc Almond by sister [a257846]. Asked into Marc Almond and the Willing Sinners and stayed for four years, three albums and a number of single releases. During this time was asked into numerous bands, sessions and gigs, notably ARKane and Zeke Manyika of Orange Juice. Left Willing Sinners for The Jazz Fools (Bath - 1987 - 1990) cassette release 'Love Show' b/w 'Sing To Me' 'I Wonder' I Won't Forget It' 1988. Disbanded when guitarist Innes Sibun joined Robert Plant. Asked into The Rhythm Sisters (Halifax - 1992) but not present on recordings. Asked into Human Nature (Glos - 1993). Left live music for a while between 1993 - 1999 while copywriting for various music magazines websites and newspapers. Started Dollhouse (Bath 2000 - no releases). Started Remix (Bath - 2002 no releases), Change of direction 2006 when pursuing songwriting career was invited into various folk and acoustic rock bands in Bristol (2006 - 2012). During this period self-released 'Not If But When' (ALS001 vinyl release 2008) Production and recording credits for Bristol-based bands during 2007 - 2009. Morphed into Richard John-Riley (2016) prompted by the re-release of Not If But When on TOR Records (Rugely). Followed with 'I Can't Tell You How This Feels' (TOR Records 2017) and Oh Sarah (AR Records 2017)
