[b]Richard Appel[/b] (b. 21 May 1963, New York City, New York) is an American former attorney and prolific comedy writer and producer. Since 2012, he has been one of the executive producers and showrunners of [i][a=Family Guy][/i] adult animation sitcom for [l=Fox Broadcasting Company]. Initially, Appel followed his mother's professional path and studied at [l=Harvard University] to become a lawyer, later serving as an assistant District Court attorney for three years. In 1994, Richard Appel gave up law and pursued his lifelong passion for comedy. After serving as a screenwriter on seven episodes of [i][a=The Simpsons][/i], Appel became a showrunner and executive producer of [i][url=https://discogs.com/master/776315]King of the Hill[/url][/i]. He subsequently worked on [i]The Bernie Mac Show[/i] and began his extensive collaboration with [a=Seth MacFarlane], working on [i][a=Family Guy][/i], [i][url=https://discogs.com/artist/4748383]American Dad![/url][/i], and [i]The Cleveland Show[/i].
