Along with colleague Lee Bartley, formed a 4-piece jazz ensemble called Images, of which Rich was a composer and Bass player. They became an important part of the Denver jazz scene, being much in demand, and became known for their "classical jazz style." In addition, Rich was involved in the formation and promotion of independent label Redstone Records in Colorado.
