Reptant is the main project of local Melbourne producer Lucas J. Hatzisavas which he uses to channel a fluid yet futuristic and modernist take on Electro. Whilst being a music project first and foremost, there are also many references scattered amongst the titling, artwork and occasionally vocal work that loosely hint at a supposed technologically advanced universe centring Reptant as a lizard like figure responsible for the productions, a lore which is sonically influenced by the organic and sometimes life like nature of the music. Over the last 5 years of releasing music Reptant has carved out a recognisable sound with the use of complex drum grooves, acidic baseline funk and powerful low end which are at the fore front of his production's while also featuring sprinkles of the almost equally important signature reptilian bleeps. With an experimental approach to sound design in the studio, Reptant sculpt’s new sounds from the ground up through the use of modern and classic electronic music equipment drawing out fresh retro-futuristic impressions on every release that are known to excite the ears of his listeners and can also stir up a club at the same time. Through his style and tongue in cheek attitude towards releasing music, Reptant has gained a humble following and an appreciation from a wide range of music lovers all over the world. With a solid stream of 12” EP’s and a full length album on his own imprint LKR Records, Reptant’s releases can be found on labels across Europe and the UK such as Kalahari Oyster Cult, TRUST, Planet Euphorique, Salt Mines, Warning and Craigie Knowes to name a few. Through the success of these releases Reptant has been brought out to many respected clubs and festivals on an international level where he can be found either DJing or more commonly showcasing one of his live sets in which he performs with only a few drum machines and synthesisers. With the Reptant project being consistently in motion since its birth, Reptant is always scanning for new sounds to implement into new creations his tracks and works hard to push the quality of the music further with every release.
