Red Mecca

Swedish darkwave, indie band formed 1997. After ten years of recording material without releasing it, Red Mecca began to perform concerts again in 2010. In addition to Strandqvist, the concerts have involved musical guests and projected films. In 2013, Frida Madeleine became a permanent member and in the fall of 2014, the first album where Red Mecca is a duo was released, and both have written the material on Massproduktion. In 2014, in connection with the full-length album "Covered With Rain", the duo was noted by Gaffa and Release Magazine as one of the most important releases of the year. They themselves describe their music as something on the border between post-rock/electronica. In 2016, the album "Electricity" was released, which ended up in sixth place when kritiker.se summed up February's releases and received the 2017 Manifest Prize for the year's best album in the synth genre.[1] In 2018, the third album I See Darkess in You was released, which was also nominated for album of the year at the Manifestgalan. In June 2018, Frida Madeleine left the project and formed the duo Kitka with Fredrik Hast from The Confusions. During the summer, Susanne Jonsson became a new member and a new creative period began. In 2019, Red Mecca's fourth album - Truth - was released - the first with Susanne Jonsson. In 2020, the album Away came out and in 2023, the double album Stay came out.
