Ralphe Armstrong

Ralphe Armstrong is a bass player born in Detroit. He classically trained at Michigan's Interlochen School of Fine Arts for four years. Ralphe, at the age of 17 he was hired by John McLaughlin to perform in the Mahavishnu Orchestra (1973-1975). In the next few years, Ralphe went on to tour, record and play with with Frank Zappa, Jean-Luc Ponty, Carlos Santana, Geri Allen, Lenny White, Narada Michael Walden, Earl Klugh, Eddie Harris, Don Sebesky, the London Symphony Orchestra and many, many others. At the height of his career at the time, Ralphe left the touring life for most of 1980s to stay home and raise his children. His presence on the local circuit while raising his family delighted the many Detroit musicians & fans who enjoyed his performances. In 2011 Ralphe hosted a weekly, two-hour variety show The Ralphe Armstrong Show streamed live over the Internet from Harmonie Park Studio's UDetroit Cafe in Detroit, MI.
