Campo was the first Latino in American TV history featured as a regular artist when he debuted on Jack Paar's "The Morning Show" on CBS in 1954.
He spent most of his life in the United States. Two future Latin music stars, Tito Puente (music direcctor for 2 years) and Joe Loco (pianist), played with the Pupi Campo Orchestra in the late 1940s.
