Precal Dropouts

From Davao City, Philippines and composed of Ben Jabez Necosia, Joshua Gavin Azupardo and Jan Mark Gestuveo, Precal Dropouts was formed on January 2020, guitarists, Josh and Mark were high-school juniors and bassist, Jabez being a senior at the time of formation. Their sound was inspired by Slowdive, Ringo Deathstarr, Moscow Olympics, Ride, My Bloody Valentine and Radiohead. While many internationally famous bands have influenced Precal Dropouts, they have also been influenced by fellow local Filipino acts such as Strange Creatures, Megumi Acorda, Tradecraft, Sound Architects and Polar Lows. Josh started listening to shoegaze around early 2018 and soon introduced Mark to the genre, usually listening to the likes of My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive in between classes and recess breaks, they eventually met Jabez and shared a love for films, post-punk and pop punk. The three started playing together with a band called Sentimental Lane in mid 2019, usually playing alternative and pop rock, they eventually left in January 2020 due to artistic differences and started working on their own as Precal Dropouts. They were featured in one of three compilations released by Shoegaze Pilipinas in 2020. Their 5th single "Stay... It's Eventide" was featured on 'Alimbúkad: A Shoegaze Pilipinas Compilation Volume 2' Joshua Gavin Azupardo - guitars, keyboards, programming Ben Jabez Necosia - guitar, bass, vocals Jan Mark Gestuveo - guitar, vocals
