Portastatic based in Chapel Hill, NC, began as a solo project for Mac McCaughan, lead singer and guitarist of Superchunk. Since then, it has evolved into a full-fledged band, which sometimes includes Superchunk guitarist Jim Wilbur and McCaughan’s brother Matthew.
