    Poets Of The Signature

Danish post-punk project founded in September 1981 as a duo by multi-instrumentalist/singer/composer Troels Bech and singer/lyricist Lars K. Andersen. The pair met in high school in the provincial town of Nyborg, and from 1978 Andersen wrote lyrics to Bech´s local band Årq. They recorded a 5-song demo in 1981, which stirred the interest of independant record label Irmgardz.... As a result, they recorded three songs in April 1982 that were released in 1982 on Somewhere Outside - Etellerandetstedudenfor, a sampler with bands from the Danish province. In 1982 the duo was joined by Andersen's wife, French-born poet and vocalist Isabelle Damotte, and by 1984 also by percussionist Flemming Borby. Poets Of The Signature debuted as a live band in June 1984. That autumn they recorded four songs that were released as the EP Poets Of The Signature in December. Also playing on the record were synth-player Henrik Bak and drum programmer Klaus Bau Jensen who collaborated frequently with the band during this period, but were not considered permanent members. By late summer 1985, Andersen and Damotte divorced and in October the band reorganised themselves into The Poets when Andersen, Bech and Borby (by now all living in Copenhagen) teamed up with new musicians.
