Plastic Flowers

About

Plastic Flowers (initially a George Samaras solo project in Thessaloniki, Greece in 2011, joined a little later by Angelos Paschalidis thus becoming a duo; they moved to London, UK in 2014; they parted company in October 2015) is George Samaras (born 1 August 1990 in Thessaloniki, Greece), a Greek producer and PhD Researcher based in London, UK. His music traverses the wider spectre of pop with heavy influences from genres such as Shoegaze and Electronica. He has released three full length albums, 'Evergreen', 'Heavenly’ and ‘Absent Forever’ via The Native Sound.

After high school he taught himself to play piano and guitar, and while at college he released numerous bedroom pop-influenced EP’s and singles that have been praised for their DIY ethics. Striving over total creative control and experimentation, Plastic Flowers introduces himself through his multi-textured version of Dream Pop with ethereal synthesisers and jungle guitars, structured around laid-back vocal melodies and complimented by lush soundscapes. The rhythmic driving power behind his sound though, lies in the counterpoint between an elaborate mixture of pumping acoustic beats and electronic bass. Samaras’ nostalgia for the analog warmth and bedroom aesthetics can be heard throughout his discography as he is recording and engineering his material exclusively on tape at home.

Plastic Flowers has toured Europe and USA extensively in the past four years and shared the stage with a number of popular artists such as Bonobo, Paul Kalkbrenner, A.R. Kane, Emancipator, Still Corners and many others.

Drummers included: Κυριάκος Παπακυριάκου (Kyriakos Papakyriakou) first, Βαγγέλης Καρκανεβάτος (Vangelis Karkanevatos) second, Γιάννης Ριζόπουλος (Giannis Rizopoulos) third, followed by session drummers.
