Philip Levine (born January 10, 1928, Detroit, Michigan, USA – died February 14, 2015, Fresno, California, USA) was an American poet and educator, known for his poems about working-class Detroit. He won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1995 and was appointed Poet Laureate of the United States for 2011–2012.
