American science fiction writer. Born December 16, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois; died March 2, 1982. Won the Hugo Award for best Science Fiction novel of 1963 with [i]The Man In The High Castle[/i]. An annual award, The Philip K Dick Award, was named in his honor. Many motion pictures, including [i]Blade Runner[/i] and [i]Minority Report[/i], have been based on his stories and novels.
