Philemon Arthur & The Dung

Philemon Arthur and the Dung is a music group from Skåne in the south of Sweden, consisting of the two members. They have been anonymous since 1971. The members have admitted that they have released music also under the names Popbeams and Hegbert Bruces tavelramar who had two songs played on Swedish national radio "”Jag mår så illa” and ”Om jag hade pjäxor”, later released on [r680265]. A clue to the identity of one band member is the songwriting credit of Mats Larsson for the cover of "In Kommer Gösta" on the album [r1865033].


The band were not only controversial because of their secret identity. They also recorded music that caused the swedish music establishment at the time to collapse. When the duo won a "Grammis" (The Swedish equivalent of the Grammy Awards) in 1972, It upset the establishment so much that the Grammy Award got canceled and disappeared for 15 years.

The band also contributed to bob hund breakthrough by forwarding a demo cassette to Silence (3)
