In 2001 after the untimely death of founder Ronaldo Campos; his son Rony Campos carried on the tradition into a new millennium. After the success of the first ever US tour in 2002; Perú Negro received two Grammy Award nominations in 2005 and yet another in 2008. In 2010; Perú Negro collaborated with the famed Peruvian Female Artist Eva Ayllón. The union also earned a Latin Grammy nomination in 2010.
