Paul Tortelier

French cellist, composer and (later in life) conductor, born 21 March 1914 in Paris, France, died 18 December 1990 in Chaussy, France. Husband of Maude Martin-Tortelier (his second wife). Father of Yan Pascal Tortelier and Maria De La Pau Tortelier. Teacher of Jacqueline Du Pré for seven years.
