American blues vocalist and one of the first blues harp players to cross over to rock, born 17 December 1942 in Chicago, Illinois, USA and died of peritonitis due to drug use and heavy drinking 4 May 1987 in North Hollywood, California, USA. He began playing classical flute as a child. Inducted into Blues Hall of Fame in 2006.
