Ollie & The Nightingales

Ollie & The Nightingales began as a gospel group called the Gospel Writer Juniors. After recording for the Pepper label, they changed their name to the Dixie Nightingles, and recorded material for Nashboro and [l=Stax] Records gospel subsidiary Chalice; before being convinced to sing secular R&B, and changing their name to Ollie & The Nightingales.

(Group member Willie Neal left when they made the switch from gospel to R&B; and was replaced by former The Premiers and The Mad Lads member Quincy Billops)
