Cuban singer known as the "queen of bolero". She was born October 9, 1922 in Santiago, Cuba and died July 12, 2010 in Miami, FL, USA. Guillot lived in Mexico City for many years where she recorded many albums with Musart. She also became a Mexican film star. In 1964 she became the first Spanish-speaking singer to perform as a solo artist at Carnegie Hall. In 2007, she was given a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Latin Grammys. Hugely popular in Cuba although she lived in exile from 1961 until her death. She had a daughter with René Touzet.
