Ochion Jewell

Ochion Jewell (pronounced ocean) is a jazz saxophonist and composer from Appalachian Kentucky. He studied classical music at the University of Louisville but became frustrated by the confinement of that musical style, and changed over to jazz and improvised music. After studying jazz, free improvisation and composition at California Institute of the Arts, he moved to New York City. He currently lives in Brooklyn and also teaches for the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music.
