His first job in the music industry was an intern at WBOS radio in New York in the late-80s. His work there led him to become the UK rep for Easy Street Records. He then worked for Secret PR, before joining Easy Street Records as Club Promotions manager. He then suggested to Tim Palmer (owner of City Beat) the setting up of Easy Street Records where he became label manager.

He left XL in 1993 to join up with Easy Street Records, where he set up and managed the Easy Street Records label. After leaving there he founded his own label, Easy Street Records.
