    Neşe Karaböcek (born April 1, 1947 in Istanbul) is a Turkish singer, one of the most influential representatives of Turkish Arabesque music. Sister of Gülden Karaböcek.


    Born Neş'ecan Göktürk in Istanbul, Neşe Karaböcek grew up in Ankara from age 2 1/2. At age 5, she performed in the play "Karaböcek" (Black Beetle), which became the source of her stage name. Together with her older sister Tezcan, she formed the duo Ankara Karaböcekler, which had its first success in 1953 with a record that featured two folk songs. After her sister married, Neşe embarked on a solo career. Herr breakthrough came in 1968 with the single "Artık Sevmeyeceğim." She won multiple Gold and Platinum records and starred in 11 movies.
