    Louisiana indie pioneer Mira Smith (1926–1989) was a producer, songwriter and guitar player. Referred to by some as "the female Sam Phillips", she owned her own studio and founded several labels including Ram Records, a small Shreveport, LA based indie, in 1955. Inducted into the Women in Music Business Assn.'s Hall Of Fame in 1995.


    She has written and performed on numerous releases with Margaret Lewis. Her name appears as Mira Ann Smith, Mira A. Smith, Myra Smith and alias Laura Martin for her songwriting credits @ BMI.
