The real voice of Valerie Dore was Dora Carofiglio from 1984-1985, but this fact is nowhere credited on the releases. Then from 1986, Monica started singing the Valerie Dore songs herself (on the album The Legend released in 1986, background vocals were performed by Simona Zanini, who also wrote the lyrics for all the songs on the album. As such, many people falsely believe Monica was lip synching the voice of Zanini.).
