Scottish musician and writer, born February 11, 1960 in Paisley, Scotland, United Kingdom. He started his musical career in 1981 and a solo career under this alias in 1986. His music is considered as influential on early Brit Pop, however, his own releases failed to become commercially successful in this era. In the early 1990's he focussed on J-pop, which brought him success as songwriter. Momus continued to create music over the next three decades without being noticed by mainstream media. In 2009 he started to write novels, which received wide critical acclaim. Starting from 1997, he suffered from a rare disease. This caused him to lose eyesight on his left eye.
